Analysis of a college magazine

Image
This is an analysis of a college magazine that I have found on the internet. I have labeled the magazine and what they show, I have also described how each thing will effect the reader and what impact they will have.

Introduction to brief

Image
For the start of my media studies we are going to research and analyse different types of magazines and learn how to use and master the programs Adobe Photoshop and Adobe InDesign. To develop my skills in Photoshop, I edited photos, I will be editing my primary photos and adapting and developing imagery. I will be using InDesign as it is a standard DTP package and it will allow me to present a professional looking magazine, I have to create a contents page, front cover and double-page spread. I will be researching lots of different types of college magazines to give me an insight of what a magazine should look like and hat it should present, after that I will start to investigate different types of music magazines and what affects they can have on its readers.

Evaluation of research

This is my evaluation of all the research that I have to done to create my own music magazine. I will discuss the reasons why I done things the way I did and I will give my opinion on some of the tasks that we had to complete. The first thing that I done in our class was bring in samples of music magazines such as Billboard and Vibe. In doing this, it would give us ideas and inspiration of what we could do to make our own magazine look professional, it was also useful to look back on if I got stuck and didn't know what to put in my magazine. The most helpful piece of work that we done was the questionnaire and interview with random people. It helped to add important little things that could make a big difference. Because of this, I got other people's opinions on what I had done so far and due to their comments I edited a few things to make it more appealing to my target audience. If I did not take these steps then my target audience wouldn't be attracted to my magazine so y...

Font Analysis

Image
This post is showing how different fonts can have different impacts on the reader and the different ways it can make them feel. This post also shows how each font will look on the front cover of my music magazine. I tried out a number of different fonts and decided that these were the best 4, I finally decided that I think the font 'Tekton Pro' best suited my front cover.

Risk Assessment With Photography

I done some research into some of the consequences that could happen when taking images in different location, these are some very important points to take into consideration when taking your images.

Target Audience Interview

I set up a cross section of an audience of 5 males and 5 females within the age range of 10-60 who also chose that their preferred genre of music is pop. The following is a message I sent out to a few different people of both genders: "By now you should have seen the final design of my music magazine and I would like to ask you a few questions about it. Has my music magazine appealed to your liking and if so, how?  Do you like the atmosphere and the feel of the magazine while you were reading it?" These are some of the responses I received: Response 1 (Male): "As soon as I was given the magazine I thought that it looked very good and professional. I thought that the fonts used worked well together however, I think the text could of been smoothed down a bit. But other than that I really liked the magazine." Response 2 (Female): "I received the magazine through the post and I thought that it was made by a professional, I like everything about the front...
